Bid Farewell

Bid farewell to all the fading memories;
Slip behind horizons fate has destined;
Do not pretend to wonder which decisions
Left you with a promise undelivered.

You it was that broke beyond the present,
Not content with what was in your hand;
Looked to have some guaranteed tomorrow.
What was never mine I boldly offered.

Still you did not find that to your liking;
You could not accept a vow so stolen.
Though you begged to be allowed to hold it,
You refused to call it your possession.

***

Years of healthy dying have resulted
Since you turned away from lust so nurtured.
I was doubly double-crossed by weakness,
You were led astray by my desire.

Now I hear you calling from the edges,
Looking from security's desolation;
I don't know what you expect to find here;
You're not even welcome to my hunger.
