Welcome!
Waes Hael Poetry & Tobacco Club is grounded upon the conviction that,
as beings made in the image of God, we should embrace a thoughtful and vigorous engagement
with life. This kind of life is characterized by a joyful acknowledgement of the
goodness of God's creation, without denying the reality of disappointment and
grief. It also includes a recognition of the all encompassing nature of
redemption, which in itself addresses this reality.
The poetry found within these pages has been written from such a
perspective. God's goodness is not denied. Heartache is not
ignored. Life is not rejected. Hope is not despaired of. At times
joyful, at times melancholy, sometimes confused, occasionally angry, these poems are a
kind of journal of the soul's struggle with light and darkness.
